NC Foundations - NC Preschool Pyramid Emotional-Social Development Trainer Modules

The Effective Teacher Practices Supporting the North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development currently includes two different training courses. One course focuses on the emotional-social development of young children while the other addresses language development and communication. Each course provides a series of training modules that promote the use of the revised North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development. In these modules, the multi-tiered instructional practices for emotional-social learning have been linked with the North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development as well as NC Professional Teaching Standards. The connection between the NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development and the NC Standard Course of Study for kindergarten (Common Core State Standards and NC Essential Standards) are emphasized in each module.

The multi-tiered instructional practices are organized using the Prechool Pyramid Framework with three tiers of support. Each course includes an overview of the principles that support each tier. Tier I consists of universal practices that are needed to support ALL children's development. Tier II instructional practices are designed to provide extra support to prevent developmental problems for SOME children. Tier III practices provide intervention to young children who experience persistent developmental problems.

NC Foundations - NC Preschool Pyramid Emotional-Social Development (ESD) Trainer Modules

This training series supports multi-tiered instructional practices for emotional-social learning. Research by the Center on the Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning indicates consistent implementation of these practices can prevent challenging behaviors and build social skills. Self-paced Modules have also been developed for Modules 1-11 to support independent learning. These may be accessed by the menu link at the top of this page.

NC Foundations - NC Preschool Pyramid Language Development and Communication (LCD) Trainer Modules

This training series supports multi-tiered instructional practices for language development and communication. Instructional practices in these modules reflect research on best practice in early literacy by the National Reading Panel. These modules also support alignment of practices implemented at the preschool level with the practices being implemented at the school-age level.
